Tim Carter has been the County School Superintendant since July 1, 2005. As a southern Arizona native, Tim graduated from Tombstone High School and received an Associate of Arts Degree from Glendale Community College, a Bachelor of Science Degree from Grand Canyon College, and a Master of Arts in Secondary Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. He completed the requirements for an Arizona Superintendent Certificate from the University of Phoenix.
Tim has had a long career in education, including a teaching and coaching position at Alchesay High School in the White Mountains of Arizona. At Prescott High School he served as Assistant Principal for Student Services and later Principal until his retirement in 2003. In retirement, Tim taught courses at Yavapai College and the University of Phoenix.
The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors unanimously appointed Tim as the County School Superintendent effective July 1, 2005. He ran unopposed for the position in the 2006 Primary and General Elections, and he also plans to run in 2008. Tim enjoys serving the 26 school districts, 41 charter schools and 98 campuses in Yavapai County.
